Montana wedding and elopement photography

There are places that stop you. Places that remind you why you're alive and why the people standing next to you matter more than anything else. Montana is one of those places.

I showed up in 2021 knowing almost nothing about it. A friend had a trip booked, plane tickets were cheap, I said yes. I basically just showed up and realized it was where I was meant to be. I've been going back every year since, for work, and for myself, because it pulls me back.

In 2024 I spent a couple months out there, just me and my dogs. It was the best summer of my life.
I tell you this because it matters who you bring with you to a place like Montana. You want someone who loves it the way you do. Someone who knows where to go, what the light does in Paradise Valley at 7pm, and how to let a place like that lead the day instead of fighting it.

That's what I do there. And I'd love to do it for you.

What Montana Does to a Wedding Day

Montana has a grounding presence. You feel it tangibly the second you arrive. You feel small when you see the mountains and the horizon that never ends. They don't call it Big Sky for nothing.

A wedding or elopement there pushes you to be present. Because there's just so much to take in, and the environment itself brings a peaceful feeling that reminds you why you're there at all. Not for the glitz and the glam. For the people.

The days are long because the horizon is wide.
You get to soak it in from dawn to dusk.

Celebrating a love story there is unlike anywhere else I've ever been.

What brings couples to montana

Sometimes it's the views. Sometimes it's a personal tie to the land. One couple I photographed chose Montana because the groom's brother had passed away, and Montana was his favorite place. That wedding will stay with me forever.

Most people want a backdrop that takes their breath away. Montana delivers that and then some. But beyond the photos, there's everything a trip out there offers: hiking, national parks, rodeos, fly fishing, rafting, skiing, horseback riding. There's something for everyone who comes.

I've gotten to watch so many people see Montana for the first time. I've taken clients, friends, and family to my favorite places and watched them fall in love with the land.

"I get why you love it here now," they tell me.
The people are kind. The pace is slow. And that's how I work. Slow and steady, letting the environment guide me at a pace that allows presence for everyone. You don't want to be on your phone out there. You just want to be there.

That's my goal with every wedding, everywhere. That people are focused less on timelines and photoshoots and more on living the day with their people. Because they will never get that opportunity again.

"Still to this day, the photos Megan captured of us for our engagement session in Paradise Valley, Montana are the most favorite photos I have of my husband and I. Not only did Megan photograph us so beautifully, but she welcomed us into a place that she clearly loves with her whole heart. She truly made us feel connected to Paradise Valley and the Livingston area in an incredibly meaningful way. Nothing was ever forced or posed, and the way she documented us exploring the valley let the moments unfold so naturally. These images still stop us in our tracks as they are framed within the walls of our home."

Yes. Both parks require permits for commercial photography if your ceremony is taking place in the parks, which we plan for in advance. If you're dreaming of either location, let's talk through it.

June through October. The summers are long and golden. Fall brings that big moody sky. Both are stunning.

Absolutely. Some of my favorite days have been the small ones.
